Youth Eco-Fiesta

Youth Eco-Fiesta

On the 6th of June 2009, Montfort NPCC Unit attended a green-and-focused, environmental-oriented event, the well-known and one as “youth eco-fiesta”. The agenda of this event was to create an intensifying awareness on securing our motherland’s well-being and origins. And to spread the message to do everything that is positive for Earth and de-standardize on whatever that’s negative.

Initially, I had a wrong mindset and personal beliefs and thought that, people or organisations who spread the message of “Saving the Earth” was some kind of a common and dull propaganda and had no kind of connection to me. It was none of my business to contribute to saving Earth, and there were no shine in the revival of our degenerated lands. But how this event change my mindset at a close relationship lies on the following sequences…

In a persuasive tone, a line of concerts was showed up and there were various performances, all on saving Mother Earth. There’s also a special singing performance, where a Malay takes her own stride in singing Chinese POP songs. She had amazed us, and it was really an eye-opener!! When she was singing, I thought, she could adapt to our Chinese cultures, songs, and this made me realise that no matter who you are, you play a part in saving the Earth!

Another amazing performance was done by a group of NYAA Gold Awardees. This time round, it’s an instrumental performance specially made by them for us. What they amazed me was their co-ordinated “tuning-and-turning” of their various musical instruments. I always thought that, co-ordinating foot drills were really tough for me. But looking at their co-ordinated arms and footwork, and their rhythmic union gave me an inspiration; that if everybody plays a part, this is how beautiful everything can be.

In between of the performances, the MCs of this event will also take opportunities to convey the messages of saving Earth and like, reducing electrical usage for 525600 minutes and water usage too. Using two pieces of paper and bagging refuse for recycling made a lot of differences too. The speeches that they delivered had deeply affected me and sensing that earth had became a global issue and it accounts for what every individual is responsible for.
